How to Keep Fit and Healthy on a Time Limit

Staying healthy and keeping fit is something everyone should aspire to, but sometimes it can be hard to find the time. Whether it’s working late, looking after your children or just having a ton of other commitments, eating right and exercising can often get pushed to the bottom of the priority pile. There are ways you can easily fit them into your schedule and ensure you maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle though.

Exercise at Home

Save time and avoid the hassle of walking or driving to the gym after a long day’s work by exercising at home. Investing in a treadmill from somewhere like Fitness Warehouse will save you money too; as the one off payment will work out cheaper than a gym membership in the long run (pardon the pun).

Rather than slumping on the sofa as soon as you get home from work, head straight to the treadmill for a quick blast. Set it up in a room with a television and you can watch your favourite show while working out, killing two birds with one stone.

Plan Your Diet In Advance

Eating healthily doesn’t need to take an age either. There are hundreds of quick and appetising recipes out there that will do you good. Rather than making lots of little shopping trips each day, plan ahead your meals for the week and do one big shop for all the ingredients.

Pasta and couscous are quick carbohydrates, ready cooked chicken or prawns for protein and a number of vegetables can be eaten raw while still maintaining flavour. Otherwise, tossing everything together in a wok is a speedy yet still healthy method of rustling up a quick meal. Just don’t layer it in mayonnaise!

Workout at Work

Aside from your home it’s likely your work desk is the other place a lot of time is spent. In recent years plenty of emphasis has been placed on getting employees active at work, so much so that Workout at Work Day is now an official event.

Working out at work doesn’t have to involve using the company gym though. It can be as simple as taking the stairs (at whatever pace you fancy), tapping your feet under the desk or doing a few knee-ups in the office. The more advanced can add wall-sits, shadow boxing and squats. Find a partner and create a routine together if you’re worried of looking like the office loon!
